Short answer
Grace Cooper is a pen name. The editor behind it writes the Pagelatix guides, checks each claim against primary documentation, labels secondary and commercial sources, and updates guides when the underlying guidance changes.
About the pen name
The guides on Pagelatix are published under the name Grace Cooper. It is a pen name, used so that the guides have a consistent byline and a single point of responsibility. We say so openly because readers deserve to know. We do not attach invented qualifications, employers or awards to the name. What matters is whether each guide is accurate and well sourced, and you can check that yourself through the source list at the end of every page.
What the editor does
- Chooses topics that business owners and developers actually ask about, such as why field and lab data disagree or what Google says about speed and rankings.
- Researches each topic in primary documentation first: web.dev, Google Search Central, Chrome for Developers, MDN Web Docs and the documentation of the platforms discussed.
- Quotes sources exactly where wording matters, for example Google's description of how its ranking systems treat page experience [1].
- Labels secondary and commercial sources in each source list, so readers can weigh them accordingly.
- Updates guides when guidance changes, and changes the date at the top of the guide when it does.
An example of why dates matter
Website speed guidance changes. On March 12, 2024, Interaction to Next Paint replaced First Input Delay as a Core Web Vital [2]. Guides and tools written before then can give advice about a metric Google no longer uses. Our policy is to check the guides against their sources and update them when something like this happens, rather than leaving outdated advice in place.
